HI, I'M ASHLEY.
I write about Love because I've been forever changed since meeting him.
And I hope you are too.
At the heart of all my writing is a longing to share the truth and light of Jesus.
As a debut Children's Author, my plan is to continue writing books for kids, while also venturing into a variety of other genres. My [intimidating] goal is to tackle each genre/age group as my daughter grows into that category (she was born in 2022)!
I was born in Dawson Creek, B.C. and raised in Abbotsford, I made the big move to Calgary, Alberta in high school with my family. Having now traveled to over ten different countries, I've seen many incredible places and even dreamed of living in some of them, but living at the foot of the Rocky Mountains has truly become the place that feels most like home.
I graduated University with a degree in Biology, switched gears to work in full-time ministry for 9 years, and am now living the stay-at-home mom life and helping with my husband's plumbing business (*no shame plug for KO Plumbing Ltd., for those in the Calgary area!).
When I was a new mom in 2022, my friend Jenny and I were meeting regularly for what we called our “Creative Club,” which was intentional time set aside to pursue our creative interests and steward the gifts God had given us. During one of those early meetings in Calgary, AB, we found ourselves talking about the importance of truth in children’s stories and how music and beauty can powerfully reinforce those truths. Then the idea hit us: “what if we created our own children’s book? I would be the author, Jenny the illustrator. And what if we re-imagined the song we had already made together?”
Back in 2019, I had written a song called “Love” as a declaration over my new marriage. Jenny helped arrange the music, sang it at my wedding, and later recorded it as a keepsake. That song eventually became the foundation for a new kids’ version of the song, and the spark that inspired what would become "The Love Trio Book series." All three books together make up the lyrics to the song!
My first book "I Know Love," was published in 2024, and the joy of bringing truth and beauty to life on the page has only grown since. I’m grateful for every chance to write stories that point to Jesus, and I look forward to creating many more books that glorify God and speak His love.
